“What is success for you regarding Warrior Material?”

February 13, 2010

This past Thursday, I was at a meeting with pastors and leaders in Massachussetts. During an interview regarding Warrior Material, the leader of our Catalyst group asked what I would consider success when it comes to the circulation of Warrior Material.

Here is the gist of what I said in response:

If one person living under limitation, unworthiness, and feelings of inadequacy reads the book and has his/her warrior spirit activated; if he/she recognizes the great value and assignment God has for him/her and the wonderful opportunity we all have to serve on the front lines of God’s vast army, then I will consider the book succesful.

A few months after I wrote my first book, Running to the Impossible, a man wrote to me, “Marios, I said the prayer; I said the prayer!” What he meant is that when he got to the part of the book where I gave people an opportunity to ask Jesus Christ to come into their hearts as Lord and Savior, he prayed in that regard.

This gentleman was not the only one who “prayed the prayer” as a result of reading the book; however, even if he had been the only one, I would have considered the book a success.

I expect many to pray that prayer as they come to the close of Warrior Material. May God be glorified and may His Kingdom advance as we co-labor with Him for the harvest of souls!

Warrior Material in my Town!

February 4, 2010

Since the book was released earlier this week, I have been having a fun time telling people around my town of Old Saybrook about the publication of Warrior Material.

At the bakery, town hall, Starbucks, restaurants, the barber, our neighborhood, and even our childrens’ schools, I am asked,  “What is Warrior Material all about?”

I enjoy sharing with folks the theme of the book and various principles discussed. I was especially mindful of such precious people while writing both Warrior Material and Running to the Impossible. I believed  there was a way the books could clearly communicate my faith in Jesus and my passion for God, while still being welcoming and inviting towards those who may not necessarily have the same persuasions I do about spiritual matters.

Many who don’t profess faith in Christ read Running to the Impossible and were impacted by it; may the same happen with Warrior Material!

Let me know your thoughts!

Excerpt from Chapter 9: Warriors in Arms

Chapter 9 Page 157

There is one major difference between military warriors and Kingdom warriors: competition. Military training is highly competitive, especially in the Special Forces. Soldiers develop friendships within a training system, which simultaneously emphasizes two dynamics: Relentlessly outdoing one another on individual events (running, climbing, obstacle course, push-ups, etc.), and selflessly cooperating in teams during missions.

Kingdom warriors’ friendships, however, are established and strengthened as believers sincerely encourage and wholeheartedly serve their friends without pretense, hidden agendas, flattery, or competitiveness. In such friendships, we are not merely tolerant of our friends’ successes beyond or before ours; we are exuberant! We truly rejoice for our friends, recognizing their victories are our victories as well.

Friends–You deserve the Chapter!

January 27, 2010

Since the announcement went out yesterday about the upcoming release of the book, many, many friends from all over the globe have tuned in somehow to express their heartfelt congratulations and well-wishes.

We are so grateful for you!

The last chapter of the book, Chapter 9, entitled–Warriors in Arms–is a tribute to all my friends. In light of your continual support over the years, and especially what I’ve experienced the last twenty-four hours, you sure deserve all the honor I can give you!

I will post an excerpt from that chapter tomorrow.

From p. 39 Chapter 1: The Driver of Passion

Passion is the key qualifier for assignments on the front lines. Skill, training, and experience come with time, but the equipping process cannot even commence unless we have passion.

Passion activates, energizes, and sustains our warrior spirit; consequently, we must maintain activities, influences, and relationships that keep our passion burning, especially when we face adversity.
